Regardless of whether you are a small clinic-based laboratory or a large regional laboratory you are generating Medical Waste, Sharps Waste and Hazardous Waste. Do you know how each of the chemicals used in your laboratory must be disposed of? Does your laboratory deal with human or animal tissue? If so, do you have a pathology waste stream established? These are some of the things Medical Systems will address as your Medical and Hazardous Waste partner.

  • Consultative approach: Medical Systems works closely with the laboratory staff to identify all medical waste and hazardous waste streams, and then develops a program that will allow us to consolidate and safely remove these waste streams from the laboratory. We will develop waste profiles for all chemicals used in the laboratory to avoid inadvertent misclassification.
  • Regulated Medical Waste or Red Bag waste: The EPA defines regulated medical waste as “healthcare waste that may be contaminated by blood, body fluids or other potentially infectious materials”.   Medical Systems’ Regulated Medical Waste disposal program is designed to offer a wide variety of container sizes and service schedules to meet each laboratory’s needs. We will work with your staff to make sure what should and what should not be considered Regulated Medical Waste, to reduce over classification and increased cost. Learn More…
  • Reusable Sharps Containers: Medical Systems’ reusable sharps containers have been proven to reduce needle sticks by as much as 30%. Not all reusable sharps containers are created equal. Make sure the containers you use will not only meet your internal needs but are designed with safety and environmental impact in mind. Unlike most reusable sharps container programs our program is available to most laboratories. Medical Systems’ Sharps Waste disposal program is designed to offer a wide variety of container sizes and service schedules to meet your facility’s needs. Learn More…
  • RCRA / Hazardous Waste: It is not uncommon for the product inserts for chemicals used in the laboratory to fail to disclose information about small amounts of preservatives and contaminants, even though the product may still be considered hazardous under federal RCRA or state Hazardous Waste regulations. Medical Systems will work with your team to create waste profiles for all chemicals used in the laboratory. Then provide proper containers and labeling for the transportation and destruction of these chemicals. Learn More…
