Other businesses that generate Medical Waste or Hazardous Waste must follow the same safety guidelines. This includes tattoo and piercing parlors. As you know tattoos are made by inserting ink deeply into the layers of the skin. Obviously, piercings involve the piercing of the skin through and through. The gauze, gloves, protective covers, and swabs used during a piercing or tattoo session all have the potential to come in contact with bodily fluids and are therefore classified as potentially biohazardous waste.
- Consultative approach: Medical Systems will work with you to confirm the different medical and hazardous waste streams your Parlor is generating and can effectively address each one including;the sharps used for piercing and tattoos, the gauze used to blot blood and ink, the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) your staff uses, and the chemicals used to clean and disinfect. We will determine the most cost effective, environmentally friendly, and regulatory compliant way to contain and safely dispose of them.
- Regulated Medical Waste or Red Bag waste: The EPA defines regulated medical waste as “healthcare waste that may be contaminated by blood, body fluids or other potentially infectious materials”. Medical System’s Regulated Medical Waste disposal program is designed to offer a wide variety of container sizes and service schedules to meet the needs of each Tattoo Parlor.. We will work with your staff to make sure what should and what should not be considered Regulated Medical Waste, to reduce over classification and increased cost. Learn More…
